CNBS presents Gender Gap Report
25 de September de 2024The “V Central American Forum on Financial Inclusion: For an Integrated and Innovative Ecosystem”, was held in Guatemala City on October 16 and 17, 2024, which was held in partnership with the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), within the framework of the second phase of the “Women, Local Economy and MELYT Territories” program. implemented by UN Women in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.
The objective of the forum was to delve into the issues of financial inclusion through the development of shared knowledge management to define roadmaps on the issues addressed in the Forum.
Ligia Marcela Herrera, Manager of Financial Education and Inclusion and Gender, attended on behalf of the National Commission of Banks and Insurance (CNBS), accompanied by Nik Kamarun, Manager of Policies and Financing for SMEs, of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) and Héctor Valle, Executive Secretary of the Bank of Guatemala, who participated in the session “Promoting Financial Innovation”. which was moderated by Mr. Armando Navarrete, Chief Economist of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI). In the aforementioned session, innovative financial policies and practices designed for the financial health of women-led businesses were presented.
In the case of the CNBS, the way in which the regulator has influenced the financial inclusion processes at the level of regulated financial institutions in the country was presented, including how the experiences in financial education, promoted by the CNBS, have impacted women’s financial inclusion.
