Within the framework of the closing of the campaign of the “16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence”, which is an international crusade that began on November 25 and ends on December 10, 2023, Human Rights Day; Organizations around the world have turned it into an organizing strategy to call for the prevention and eradication of violence against women and girls.
The Management of Education and Financial Inclusion and Gender, of the National Commission of Banks and Insurance (Comisión Nacional de Bancos y Seguros CNBS), participated in the different inter-institutional activities that began on the ground floor of the National Congress, dress codes, delivery of cookies with the logo, painting their hands on canvas supporting the campaign, as well as the installation of information stands and fairs that were used to deliver information in a trifolio, A series of virtual and face-to-face trainings aimed at CNBS and government employees were also given, on important topics such as “Knowing Labor Issues with a Gender Perspective” which was given by prosecutors from the Public Ministry (MP) and “Gyneco-obstetric Violence” given by a specialist from the Women’s Law Center (CDM), closing the day at the Manuel Bonilla National Theater.
The event was led by the Secretary of Women’s Affairs (SEMUJER) Doris García, attending to the initiative given by the government of President Xiomara Castro, with the accompaniment of at least 25 institutions that under the slogan “TOGETHER WE ARE VOICE WE ARE ALL, FREE OF VIOLENCE united to fight for the eradication of gender violence.
The closing of the campaign was attended by the Presidential Designate Doris Gutiérrez, Anarella Vélez, Minister of Cultures, Arts and Heritage of the Peoples of Honduras, Minister of SEMUJER Doris Garcia and Vice Minister Maritza Gallardo, as well as special guests and the general public, in a colorful atmosphere in the midst of dance. poetry and recitals, which were performed by the members of the 2023 Women’s Regional Orchestra, National School of Dance, National Association of Women Writers of Honduras.
Minister García congratulated each of the institutions that joined this campaign in which some 150 activities were registered, with the sole objective of confronting the scourge of violence that directly affects girls and women in Honduras. Activities must not stop today and we must never continue to fight for our women and girls to live in a country free of all forms of violence, I urge.
